Celebrate Recovery
If we are truly honest, most, if not all of us, know what it means to struggle with overworking, overeating, alcohol/drugs, overspending, grief, guilt, anger/rage, fear/anxiety, divorce, abuse, sexual addictions, codependency, insecurity, perfectionism, hurtful relationships, gambling, lying, procrastination, the need to control, or a host of other issues that haunt our lives. Celebrate Recovery is a Biblically based ministry of hope for all kinds of hurts, hang-ups, and habits. At present, we meet on Thursdays at 7:00 p.m. in the Chapel. ( See directions below .) Doors open at 6:30 p.m., which gives time to grab a cup of coffee, register if new, catch up with a friend, or just unwind a bit from your busy day. Our meetings begin with a thoughtful time of worship in music led by Joshua Rupp. This is planned to help us transition from our hectic day and begin to prepare ourselves for the weekly lesson. The lesson, focusing on one of eight principles, is taught by Jack Dutton, ministry coordinator. Each principle builds upon the last, moving us closer to experiencing the freedom we all long for. After the teaching time we break out into small discussion groups by genders - men with men, women with women. This is intended to be a time where ideas from the teaching time can further be explored on a more personal level. However, no one is pressured to share. If someone just wishes to listen that is totally fine. Our goal is to make the small group experience safe and confidential. Each week we remind participants this is not about fixing one another and what is said in the group stays in the group. The evening concludes from 9:00 until about 9:30 p.m. with an informal time of tasty refreshments and fellowship called the “Solid Rock Café”. This time offers opportunity for continued discussion from the evening’s topic, talking privately with someone about what’s been happening in his or her life, or simply enjoying some casual conversation. You can benefit from coming to any meeting. However, the most effective way to maximize growth is to be as faithful as possible to participate in a 24-week cycle. Our hurts, hang-ups, habits didn't develop overnight and they don't disappear overnight either. Study guides for personal daily studies are very popular and available. A suggested donation of $6.00 is encouraged, but in no way is required. Questions may be addressed to Jack Dutton at jdutton@gaylordefree.org or by calling the church office, 732-2647.
